The best way to start a weekend

So, Friday we finally nailed down the hardware purchase that we have been working on. It’s nice. two FAS270’s with 1.8 TB and a T50 with 2 drives, 10 slots and all the software to boot. Bottom line, about 235K. I LOVE spending over peoples money. I’ve spent the last week or so on the phone after work with some of the vendors working through various options. It’s nice to finally get it down to an order.

So then, as I was wrapping up the day, putting things away for my upcoming trip to Germany I noticed that gmail had a new message from ISC(2). FINALLY OF course it could have been good or bad news, but, about 5 o 6 lines down it said Congratulations! and that’s all it took! **I passed my CISSP test!!* That was SUCH a relief. After two weeks I was really getting worried that I wouldn’t hear from them any time soon. And of course, passing is much better then failing. So this weekend before I leave I’ll be sending off my resume and application form to the instructor so that I can finish with the certification process.

That being said, me and a few people from work headed up to Amsterdam for the night. I wasn’t in the mood to hang out ALL night, but it was neat to spend some time walking around the older part of the city and seeing what all the hubbub was about. I had a few drinks, walked around a few canals and check out the windows. Interesting idea. Nothing that you don’t see on a Vegas strip but with a bit of a twist. Anyways, I wasn’t going to stay all night so I caught a train back to Rotterdam. It takes 45 minutes to drive but over an hour and a half to get back. Bleh.

In other news.. I got my Vonage line installed. That was a nice quick turn around and WOW.. the sound is great. No problems at all. I also got my recent order from Amazon. It’s great that the speed of packages from the states. Yet, for some reason, I STILL haven’t gotten my order from TenClub. I also got some books (four books by Nick Hornby), a few CDs (Thievery Corp’s Versions and Snow Patrol’s Eyes Open).. and SIN!. I’m looking forward to installing that and giving it a go around. I have heard that it’s not bad, but not great. It will however hold me over until my HL2 add-on packs comes. Yeah baby.. yeah. Not bad at all.
