quick note..

Humm, some quick notes about the Dapper to Edgy upgrade. I decided to upgrade my media box this weekend to check out what things are new in the Edgy release. The dist-upgrade went well, but I upon reboot /dev/md0 didn’t start right (and caused a segfault) and snmp stopped working.

The fix for /dev/md0 was to comment out the line in /etc/fstab and then when the system came up I ran mdadm –assemble /dev/md0 and then mounted /dev/md0 and life was good.

For the snmp problem, /etc/default/snmp had the SNMPDOPTS that ended with 127.0.0.1. This was an interesting change and it turns out it’s what was preventing snmpd for hearing requests from other hosts. removed the 127.0.0.1, restarted snmpd and life was good.

I fixed a problem with the_gibson last week.. it would randomly shut down. A bit of a pisser really. Turns out the problem was that I had forgotten to plug in the molex connector that attaches to the motherboard. Once I put that back in I was able to do a full memtest through a number of cycles and had no problem.

Other then that, everything else is running good. I would like to reinstall GLX on nikon and I need to play some more with Crossover on flipmode.
