I got a call this morning from the movers, turns out the shipment cleared customs with no problems and they want to drop it off tomorrow around 8 in the morning.. would that be ok? HELL YEAH!
So it looks like I’ll be getting a good nights sleep before my CISSP test, that is if I make it too sleep. You see, tomorrow the cable modem will also be dropped off (score) and I’ll probably spend part of the evening patching my machines and starting to get my leach on and catch up with some TV shows I’ve been missing. Yeah for Bit-Torrent! note to self - pick up a new drive for more storage space and reinstall of new OS
So things to do this weekend: Get a bed frame that doesn’t need a box spring( i’m almost positive the box spring isn’t going to make it up the stairs or the elevator OR the window - See IKEA), get a kitchen table and a few chairs, get a separate kitchen block/wine rack thing and look at TV’s and Receivers. Oh yeah, got to get some rugs too.
In the mean time, I’ve been staying late at work studying, because they have chairs, internet and I have my music. It’s been nice. I’ve been taking some quiz’s at cccure.org and doing well enough to pass, but not well enough that I am happy with my score. Passing is good and all, but I would like to not be getting SO close to 70%. Some of my mistakes are with reading the questions completely and some of them are with not knowing fine details. I should do ok, but I always worry.
It was really nice to get Ubuntu to finally read both mp3 AND m4a (aac) files and play them natively. I had tried XMMS and some plugins, mp3act and some plug-ins, MAD and some other tools and nothing seemed to work right. I finally got it all working by installing some of the gstreamer plugins. After playing with all the extra add-on tools and what not it turns out that Rhythmbox does a great job managing the tracks and sorting them.. and it plays the quickly too. Now to find something that I can control from the windows box, that would be pimp. Or maybe just setup a remote X session.. humm
