Hey Look! A post!

So yeah.. How’s it going? It’s not that I haven’t wanted to post things.. I have. It’s just that I’m normally in the middle of something else at the time, then I get sidetracked to something else then before you know it.. I’ve blow it off for another day. Days turn into weeks and before you know it, it’s almost another month! So, here’s how things have been:

Work: Good, really good in fact. I spent a week in Izmir, Turkey and a few days around Ipswitch, UK with plans to go there again next month. I’ve been working on tweaking the Cacti install at the office and I’ve finally gotten approval to use it officially! I even got the router/switch people to turn on SNMP polling for my box so that we can track the remote sites bandwidth usage and can use that during our troubleshooting.. it’s such a good tool. I’ve even got it setup at my place polling my Linksys and doing a few Advanced Ping polls. It’s nice. I’m still working on trying to get them to spend some money on a NetApp and SyncSort/SpectraLogic solution, but they don’t seem to have any money now.. figures.

Life: Life in Rotterdam is great I’m still happy here and It’s been almost 3 months.. so that’s a good sign. The weather has been perfect.. 65-85 and with very little rain. The only possible downside could be that I seem to be allergic to something and end up sneezing and blowing my nose all damn day long. Maybe it’s some hay-fever or something. Hopefully that will clear up soon. I’ve been doing some bike riding, taken a boat dinner cruise tour of downtown Rotterdam and a few train rides out to Den Haag. The country is amazing.

Watching the World Cup was fun and seeing how involved people got really made it seem more energetic and alive.

I’ve got my tickets purchased for my trip to Sweden next month.. I’ll be out there for 4 days visiting Lisa and her lovely family and then come right back to work to go to England to do a move and then take a few weeks off before I run over to Austria. I’m still debating how to get there.. train vs plane vs drive. I think driving would be fun, though it would be a long drive. Still a toss up.

I’m just about done moving in.. I’ve got a two boxs still in the office and I still need to find a dinning room table along with a better table for the kitchen nook. And then maybe another wardrobe for the bedroom. I realize now I have more clothes then I thought.

I’ve got some pictures to post and some notes to post about cacti, new books I’ve read, info about my new phone, the mac and some other crap.. I’ve just got to get to it. I’ll just tack it on my list of things to get too.. when I’m not being lazy or reading.
