Did you know..

The dutch use a different type of connector for their plumbing? In the states, when you do PVC piping, you tend to glue a pipe to a joint, or you use a piece that has threads on both sides and you use a coupling in the middle. Stays secure, no problems, lasts long time. Not the same in Holland (and maybe other parts of the EU.. never looked at their plumbing). They use one side with threads and the other side has a sleeve that pushes up against a plastic ring and a rubber bushing type piece. so, if the coupling isn’t tight, and the sleeve and bushing move out, the pipe can come right out.. or get loose or allow water to leak. Yup, that’s what happened. The downstairs neighbor told me I had a leak, I look.. wet joint. Call the contractor, he comes and fixes it in 5 minutes. I guess I need to make sure the joints stay tight. Odd system.. very very odd.
